The deck comes first
The substrate supports the roof system. Its condition and suitability need to be understood before a new covering or an overlay is considered.
Insulation and moisture
Insulation should be selected as part of a complete design. Vapour control, condensation risk and interfaces with the waterproofing system need attention.
The waterproofing line
A membrane or liquid-applied system must suit the substrate and roof use. Seams, penetrations, upstands and perimeter details deserve as much thought as the main roof area.
Give water a route
A flat roof still needs a drainage strategy. Falls and outlets work together; tapered insulation can be one way to form the required geometry where appropriate.
